I painted this from across the harbor sitting in the chowder house at Tuck’s Point. My husband was fishing at the little beach below. I had such an odd shaped canvas with me, I didn’t have high hopes for it, but when I saw the view I envisioned it right on top of it. The painting came together quickly and we went out to Hale Street Tavern after that for dinner.

Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
