This year I painted several scenes of my hometown in Plaistow, NH for an exhibit I had there. I used a few old postcards for inspiration and reference. I loved this scene but didn't realize it was the house of some old friends! The bridge was new then and the angle different from what I remembered so I didn't recognize it. It has a lot of history for the town too. My friends have since moved on but for me this will always be "The Howland House". :)
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes.
