I painted this for a show at the Merrimack Repertory Theater in Lowell, MA. The production is "The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley". This is the bridge that Elizabeth runs over to escape the rain, reach the folly and reject Mr. Darcy's marriage proposal.
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
