Artist's Description
On the day I painted this scene, Chris and I braved the ocean and took his little boat around Misery Island in Beverly and back. Along the way, he fished and I painted. I started getting a little sea sick because I was concentrating on the painting too much so I had to take many breaks. A sailing class floated by so I captured their movement and direction in a simple way.
About Debra Bretton Robinson
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
