Artist's Description
I painted this little scene the last time I went up to Vermont with my dad to see my brother Jerry and his family. My nephew was having a grandparents day at school and my mom couldn't go so I took her place so my dad wouldn't have to drive alone. It turned out to be quite a trip! We detoured into the White Mountains of NH and road tripped across a very rural part of VT. During our trip we visited this ferry crossing (see a hint of the moorings in the far right) and decided to paint it while I had the chance. I always love Vermont!
About Debra Bretton Robinson
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
