This is a painting of Misery Island off the coast of Beverly, MAssachusetts. We sailed out to it and took a dingy to the shore. The kids went on a preplanned scavenger hunt led by Uncle Steve Hall while I painted this painting on the beach. You can see Baker Island Light in the background. We were lucky we did all that before the storm.
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
