There is a long story affiliated with that spelling. I'm not sure you want to hear it. My father was born a Smith. When his parents divorced his mother married a man named Bretton. He said that his relative may have had a few too many while signing his name for the first time (not sure where or for who). An extra "t" may or may not have been added. So since I am really a Smith in disguise, I can't really argue one way or another! :) The things you learn about your distant relatives.

Me too, you. LOL. Now if we could only agree on how to spell the name... ;-)

Thanks Laurie! I really appreciate your comments. Of course, our styles are pretty similar. I fell in love with your work years ago! :)

Wonderful! I love your paintings so much. Your style is clean and simple, while at the same time fabulously dynamic! The colors are amazing!

About Debra Bretton Robinson

Debra Bretton Robinson

Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement. The talents of several other artists she continues to draw upon are: William Henry...
