I’ve drawn many flowers this year for still lives, but as it’s too early in Spring for many flowers to grow and with the ever presence of the coronavirus, we haven’t bought many bouquets. These little guys are all we had left. After much study, they proved to be as challenging as some of its other grander cousins. I think they are sweet and simple, colorful and welcoming.
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
