This past summer Chris and I went out in the floating studio, er, I mean boat...and fished and painted at the end of the line, which is Pepperell on the Nashua River because of the spillway. It was a lovely, warm and sunny day. (unlike now.) Whenever I look at this piece I imagine myself on the boat, half reclined, lazily dragging my hand through the water. Sometimes you need scenes like this to get you through the Winter.
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
