Over The Summer

Well, the summer is over but during the season I was able to paint a significant amount of work. Mostly from my husband's boat while he was busy fishing in the Merrimack River and Massapaug Lake, both in Massachusetts. It wasn't always easy painting from a boat. If the wind whipped up, sometimes I was wearing a coat of paint I had just put on the canvas. Never the less, it was a wonderful way to see scenes with a different perspective and also a way to connect with my husband :) After falling in love (yes, I love him a lot, but now I'm talking about art movements.) with the turn of the century painters' group from Canada called the Seven, I started noticing the landscapes around me in a new way. Before my paintings had to have buildings in them to be subject-worthy. Suddenly it was more about the composition of the trees, the branches and the colors bouncing off of the many elements of the landscape. I could get abstract, I could have fun! There were never enough canvases around :)
